IATA season S22 measures
COHOR reminds the specific measures that are in place for the coordination process of IATA S22 season :
- Use it or lost it threshold
The European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament amended Council Regulation (EEC) No 95/93 (EU Slot Regulation) to grant a temporary reduction of the minimum slot use rate also for the summer season 2022 (S22) and to continue the application of the COVID-19 specific rules on the justified non-usage of airport slots (JNUS). Instead of the normal requirement to use at least 80% of a given slot series, airlines will only have to use 64% to retain historic rights in those slots during season S22.

- Cancellations
All cancellations must be sent at least 3 weeks before the day of operation.
Slot cancellations under JNUS need SI remark mentioning “FORCE MAJEURE PER COHOR REFERENCE” and must be sent separately from other cancellations.Slots returned below 3 weeks in advance for destinations covered by JNUS might not be considered force majeure.
- Double dip
The different measures and waivers due to the COVID-19 crisis, and the recommendation of WASB justified the suspension of the double dip for season S21 and W21. The suspension by COHOR of the double dip (WASG article 8.7.2) will continue during IATA season S22.
- Slot Retrun Deadline
COHOR asks airlines to respect strictly the Slot Return Deadline (January 15th 2022) for returning series of slots they don’t intend to operate (article 10.16 of WASG). COHOR will monitor late cancellations and airlines that intentionnally return series of slots after SRD will receive a lower priority during the initial coordination of S23 IATA season.
